Dear friends and colleages,

Although cooperation between Czech and German otorhinolargologists has a rich and longstanding tradition, the official establishment of the Czech-German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (CZ-GE ORL-HNS) took place only recently — on the occasion of the 20th Czech-German ENT Days in Pilsen (Czech Republic) in 2022. The society has since been accepted as an Affiliated Member of the CEORL-HNS, representing an important step toward deeper integration within the broader European ENT community.

From May 28–31, 2025, CZ-GE ORL-HNS was proud to take part in the 96th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in Frankfurt. Our representatives participated in round table discussions together with colleages from the German-French and German-Italian ENT societies about differences in residency training programs, surgical skill development among residents and achieving work-life balance in the medical profession. During the conference, the official CZ-GE ORL-HNS Annual Meeting was also held. Attendees reflected the success of the 22nd Czech-German ENT Days, which took place last year in Prague, and explored future opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

Preparations are underway for the 23rd Czech-German ENT Days, which will be held on September 12–13, 2025, in Dresden. The conference will be hosted under the patronage of prof. Volker Gudziol, Head of the Department of ORL, Head and Neck Surgery, at Dresden Municipal Hospital.
Main topics this year include:

• Innovations in ear surgery: endoscopic techniques, active middle ear and cochlear implants
• Surgical and biological treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis
• Latest developments in immunotherapy for head and neck cancer
