The Czech Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (CSORL)
CSORL was founded in 1921 and currently has 1100 members. It is divided into 14 subspeciality sections (for example: Otologic, Rhinologic, Laryngological, Head and Neck, ... Young ENT).
In cooperation with the Slovak ENT Society, CSORL has been publishing the journal "Otorhinolaryngology and Phoniatrics" since 1952, which contains articles in Czech, Slovak and English. CSORL provides publication of books in the edition of Head and Neck Medicine and publication of printed and online Practice Guidelines. The Society operates an educational online platform, ORLtube, which contains recorded scientific lectures. It also has its own mobile app, which is used by over 2000 users.
CSORL organizes annual National ENT Congresses. Together with Slovak colleagues, CSORL co-organizes the Czech-Slovak ENT Congresses every two years. Another example of the emphasis on international cooperation is the organization of the Czech and German ENT Days from late 1990s. This cooperation resulted in foundation of the Czech-German ENT Society (Affiliated Society member of CEORL-HNS) in 2022.
Among the most successful events organized by CSORL is undoubtedly the 3rd Congress of European ORL-HNS 2015 in Prague under the presidency of Prof. Jan Betka. This congress is still considered the benchmark of European ENT congresses, and its success significantly increased the prestige of the CSORL on the international scene.
Currently, we are preparing European subspeciality events to be held in Prague: the 31st Congress of the Union of European Phoniatricians in 2025 and the 18th Congress of the European Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology in 2027.
