1st Joint Meeting of the Confederation of European ORL-HNS and the Pan-American Association of Otorhinolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery at the 39th Pan-American Congress of Otorhinolaryngology in Santiago, Chile

The Confederation of European ORL-HNS proudly participated in the 39th Pan-American Congress of Otorhinolaryngology, held from November 11–14, 2025, in Santiago, Chile.
This event hosted the historic first joint meeting between the Confederation and the Pan-American Association of Otorhinolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery.

The Confederation contributed to the scientific program with three outstanding sessions led by renowned experts from Europe:

  • Advances in Head and Neck Cancer – A European Perspective, with Patrick Sheahan, Miroslav Tedla, and Heikki Irjala.
  • First-line management, surgical treatment, and hearing preservation/rehabilitation in patients with vestibular schwannoma, presented by Per Caye-Thomasen and Stefan Plontke.
  • Challenges in Benign Sinonasal Lesions – CEORL-HNS Update, led by Jan Plzak, Ann Hermansson, and Cem Meço.

Prof. Ann Hermansson also delivered an invited lecture titled “Acute Otitis Media: Treatment and Complications in the Era of Watchful Waiting – Aspects on Antibiotic Treatment and Resistance.”

The Confederation was additionally present with a dedicated booth, where we had the pleasure of meeting colleagues from across the globe, strengthening international ties, and promoting the upcoming 8th Congress of European ORL-HNS, which will take place in Gothenburg in April 2026.

We were delighted to showcase the scientific strength and collaborative spirit of European Otorhinolaryngology on this global stage. Our warm thanks go to the Pan-American Association for their kind welcome and excellent organization. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership and to welcoming colleagues from across the Americas to Gothenburg 2026!
